Petroglyphs and pictographs are also known as what is considered rock art. They were used as a form of communication, but nowadays it seems that they were more for stories. They were probably done to make sure that as time went on their stories and times would not be forgotten. The art of Petroglyphs is actually created by removing part of a rock surface by incising, pecking, carving, and abrading. Most of the time its referred to as carving or engraving. Pictographs on the other hand is the actual painting of the rock. When one thinks of rock art, our minds most often drift to the painting and not the actual engraving.Most believe that these markings were markings for their gods. They put a lot of belief into the healing power of these markings and sometimes were tattooed onto their bodies in symbolism of that healing.

The art that is on the rocks is really neat. The lady on the video said that Petroglyphs on the rocks resembles power. The paragraph up there said people say they were stories. I think that they art and stories of peoples life. I mean back then they didn't have paper and pens so they use the rocks to write on.

I am from India so i been so so many place where thay have these kind of craving and these means a lot such as it explains about the people's culture and tradition and also their beliefs. they still use craving of rocks to make statue out of rock but it isn't the same as we saw it in the video. but i think it was explained really nicely about how people use one of the symbol to examine the time and the season.We get to learn a lot from these kind of ancient things.
