A Super TV?

Many cable and phone companies are creating packages for their subscribers. Cable TV, Landlines, and Caller ID are just some of the options included in the package. By doing so they are able to intertwine the features. For example, if someone were to call the house phone while you were watching TV the phone number and name of the caller appears across the bottom of the screen. It is possible that in the future we will have “Super TV’s” if you will. They will take the current capabilities one step further. You would be able to talk directly though the television screen. If the technology progresses there could even be a visual image of the person talking. As landlines seem to become a thing of the past, this could be the technology that will replace them.

  1. This kind of technology is probably almost ready to come out for the publics use. One of the things that you hit on, televisions recognizing and displaying the number of a telephone call on the TV is already in use. My girlfriend has Direct TV and anytime someone calls it shows the phone number as well as the persons name on the TV in a little box. The video conversation tools may be a little farther in the future however. The technology is just in its primitive state at the moment. In 5 years or so it will probably be evolved enough to support this sort of use. It is incredible to think that buying a TV in the future may be a more important decision.

  2. A super TV, this is a piece of technology from the movies that I can’t wait to have in my home. To be able to call my grandfather from across the country and him see me and me see him would be astounding. The ability to use the internet while you are watching TV and talking to someone, all on one screen, is amazing. I really enjoyed the blogs this semester, thank you.

  3. I have mentioned this idea in multiple papers I’ve written that our technology devices will be combined into our televisions and perhaps a handheld device also. Web conferencing will most likely become the norm. I’m sure we’ll have an option to leave it on or off when people call you. T.v.’s will probably become the hub of the future modern household, connecting everyone and everything.

  4. this kind of invention seems to be not so far fetched, With the way that technology had been growing lately, i can only imagine how long it will take for this invention to be out on the market. Every piece of mobile technology will soon be combined into one simple device. Rather than having 5 remotes for 5 different technological functions, you will soon have 1 function/ 1 remote.
