Online dating, is it the wave of the future?

As we move into a time when the internet is not some distant thing that we hear of our government using to communicate but rather something that everyone in society has come accustomed to using so does internet dating. Internet dating has been exploited by various different companies such as Spark Network which holds the popular site jdate.com and Yahoo Inc.’s eharmony.com to facilitate introductions between different people who are attempting to join the dating market and are trying to go outside the usual spectrum of potential options available to them. In today’s day and age internet dating is of the many different options available to society to help become more globalize. It is amazing to wonder where will sites like these eventually take us into the future as far as what new ways will society come up with to being more accessible to one another from a personal standpoint .

  1. More and more I am seeing commercials advertised on TV for such internet dating services, such as, eHarmony.com. I sometimes wonder who are these people who go online to find true love. In trusting what they see or read on their computer screens is what is actually true. Then I took a look at the types of websites I visit (FaceBook) and look to see how much different is really is. With FaceBook, I am "friends" with people that I know, then may get caught up in a status comment twirl that someone comments me, after time adding them as a friend and establishing some type of relationship.
People have grown to the internet that it is as real as anything. And feel that while paying their bills, checking their email and doing their banking, why not find someone online and start a relationship with. Another factor I find is some people, once at a certain age, don't like to go out to the bars or other events to meet people, that they feel more comfortable sitting in their own home and mingling online.

  2. On-line dating is not necessarily a thing of the future, but it does tie into what the future holds. As society evolves to living their lives on a computer, how else is there time to date and find the “right” one? There are many pros and cons to this feature; I have heard many success stories and many horror stories. It definitely seems as though this will be the way to go in a world of technology! We already are communicating mostly through technology with society. I feel science will need to up the security of these web sites if they over ride the traditional way.
